Frequently Asked Questions
What validation methods does Bird support?
Bird supports three validation methods: postal/zip codes, radius (straight-line distance from your store), and driving distance. You must choose one method for all locations—you can't mix different validation types.
How does radius-based validation work?
Radius validation uses Google Maps to draw a circle around your store. Customers enter their address, and Bird calculates the straight-line distance to determine if they're within your delivery zone. You'll need a Google Maps API key with Geocoding, Maps JavaScript, and Places APIs enabled.
Does Bird validate driving distance or straight-line distance?
Bird supports both. Radius validation uses straight-line distance (as the crow flies), while driving distance validation calculates the actual route distance. Choose driving distance for more accurate delivery zone boundaries in areas with complex road networks.
What happens if a customer is outside my delivery zone?
If a customer's address falls outside all your delivery zones, they'll see your configured error message and won't be able to select local delivery. They can still choose shipping or store pickup if those options are enabled.
