What is widget customization in Bird?
In Bird Pickup & Delivery, the Shopify app by BirdChime, the cart widget can be styled and reworded to fit your theme. Widget Design sets colors, icons and calendar behavior without code. Text and languages edits every label and message per language, and the Developer settings take custom CSS and JavaScript.

What can I change without code?
Colors, icons and how the calendar behaves, in Bird's Widget Design settings.
- Accent color
The widget's main color for selected tabs, the chosen date and highlights. Many other defaults follow it.
- Section colors
Separate colors for the method tabs, calendar, input fields, header and footer text, error text and the pickup location list.
- Your own icons
Replace the tab icons with JPG or PNG images from Shopify Files. They show at 24 × 24 pixels.
Start weeks on Sunday or Monday, and show the full calendar or a date field that opens it.
- Default method
Choose which method is selected first. Bird remembers a customer's switch until they order.
What does a customized widget look like?
Examples from the help center's own settings.
- Renamed tabs
Store Pickup becomes Click & Collect, Local Delivery becomes Delivery, and Shipping becomes Ship it.
- A different prompt
The calendar label changes from "Pick a date" to "Choose a date".
- A help link
The pickup footer gets a WhatsApp Support or Contact Us link, written in HTML.
- A narrower widget
One CSS rule caps the widget at 400px wide on the cart page.

Can I change the wording customers see?
Yes, every label, instruction and error message, in Text and languages.
- Labels
The calendar prompt, the time field labels and the names of each method tab.
- Header and footers
Text above the widget and a different footer for pickup, delivery and shipping, with basic HTML.
- Errors
Required date, postal code, minimum order value, mixed cart and expired selection messages.
The labels in the date and time box on the thank you and order status pages.
- Find any field
A search bar jumps straight to a field by name or by the words it already says.
Can the widget speak my customers' language?
Yes. Add a language for each storefront language and translate every field.
Pick the language code that matches your storefront, such as fr-CA, and edit its text.
- Calendar language
Sets month names and weekday abbreviations for that language.
- Date and time format
Short, medium, long or full dates, and a 12-hour or 24-hour clock.
- Checkout labels
Method labels map to Shopify's checkout wording, so checkout and confirmation emails show the right names.
Can I change the labels at Shopify checkout?
Yes. Bird's checkout label editor changes the pickup and delivery wording at checkout.

Edit the address section title, method title, method description, saved addresses heading and order summary line for pickup and delivery.
- No theme files
Save and the new wording shows at checkout straight away.
- Per language
Labels are set per language, so set them in each language you sell in.

What if I want more control?
Developer settings take custom CSS and JavaScript, and let you place the widget yourself.
- Custom CSS
Change fonts, spacing or width, or hide elements such as the pickup address in the widget.
- Manual placement
Anchor the widget before, after or inside any element with a CSS selector, if automatic placement doesn't suit your theme.
Run your own code when a customer picks a date and time, using the birdchime:schedule event.
- Headless storefrontsScale only
The same widget mounts on Hydrogen, React, Vue or plain HTML, and loads your settings and translations from Bird.
- Cart page or drawer
The widget works in the cart page, the cart drawer, or both. Bird doesn't recommend the product page, because each order has one date.
No-code settings or custom code: which do I need?
Most stores never need code. CSS and JavaScript are there for the rest.

How can I make the delivery date picker match my Shopify theme?
Set your accent color and the tab, calendar and input colors in Bird's Widget Design settings, with a live preview beside them. For fonts or spacing beyond those settings, add CSS in Developer settings.
Can I rename Store Pickup to Click & Collect?
Yes. In Text and languages, change the Store pickup label and the tab shows your wording, for example Click & Collect.
Can weeks start on Monday?
Yes. Choose Sunday or Monday in Widget Design's basic settings.
Can I hide my pickup address in the widget?
Yes, with one CSS rule in Developer settings, and pickup still works. It only affects the cart widget: on Shopify plans other than Plus, checkout still shows an address field for pickup orders.
Can I put the date picker on the product page?
Bird recommends the cart page, the cart drawer, or both, because each order has a single pickup or delivery date for all its items.
Does it work for Shopify stores outside the US?
Yes. Add each storefront language, translate the text, and set the calendar language, date format and 12-hour or 24-hour clock for each one.
Do I need a developer?
Usually not. Colors, icons, calendar style and every label are settings with a live preview. Developer settings are there for custom CSS, JavaScript or manual placement.
Which plan do I need?
