"Which courier can I use?" is one of the first things Shopify merchants ask us about local delivery, and the honest answer starts with another question: where is your shop?
Couriers are local businesses. A same-day network that's everywhere in Toronto may not exist in Leeds. This guide lists every courier Bird connects to for Shopify local delivery, sorted by country, and what makes each one different, so you can choose without booking a round of sales calls.
How to pick a local delivery courier for Shopify
- Find the couriers that serve your country in the table below
- Decide what customers pay: the courier's live price, or your own delivery rate
- Match the courier to what you sell, from cakes and flowers to bulky orders
- Give each store location its own courier, if you run more than one
| Country | Couriers Bird connects to |
|---|---|
| United States | Uber Direct, Trexity, Jitsu, UniHop |
| Canada | Uber Direct, Trexity, Eva, UniHop |
| United Kingdom | Uber Direct, Stuart (Beta), Gophr |
| France | Uber Direct, Stuart (Beta) |
| Poland | Stuart (Beta) |
| Australia | Uber Direct, Go People |
| New Zealand | Uber Direct |
Whichever courier you choose, you keep your own account with them, they bill you for each delivery, and Bird runs the Shopify side: the delivery date and time slot your customer books, the price at checkout, and the moment the order goes to the driver.
Which local delivery couriers work with Shopify in the US and Canada?
North America has the most choice, and the four options are less alike than they look.
Uber Direct covers six countries, more than any other courier on this list, so it suits brands that want one courier everywhere. Our Uber Direct guide covers pricing and setup in detail.
Trexity is built for independent retailers in the US and Canada. You choose how each delivery is booked: same day, Trexity's Direct service, next day, or as a draft you schedule yourself in Trexity.
Jitsu is a same-day network in the US. Because it only runs same-day, check that the delivery windows you offer are ones Jitsu covers in your area.
UniHop covers the US and parts of Canada, and it's the one to look at for bulky or delicate orders. Its special-handling option is made for catering, florals and fragile goods, and you can book anything from a sedan up to a truck. You can also add a flat driver tip to every delivery. One difference: UniHop doesn't quote at checkout, so customers pay your own delivery rate and UniHop bills you separately.
Eva is a Canadian delivery platform. Every Eva delivery needs a customer phone number, so make the phone field required at checkout before you switch it on.
Which couriers deliver for Shopify stores in the UK, France and Poland?
Stuart covers all three countries and prices in each market's own currency: pounds, euros or złoty. It's marked Beta in Bird, which means it's live but still being refined. Our earlier Stuart integration post goes deeper on how it works.
Gophr is a UK same-day courier with settings that matter for food and gift shops. Tick that your deliveries contain food, mark them fragile to keep them off bike couriers, or flag alcohol. Gophr doesn't check ID at the door, so age checks stay with you.
Which couriers deliver for Shopify stores in Australia and New Zealand?
Go People is an on-demand courier network in Australia, and it prices by what's in the box. Its package types include flowers (under 50 cm tall), cake, donuts and groceries, which is handy for florists and bakeries. Set a default package, then add weight rules so heavier orders go as a bigger type.
Uber Direct covers both Australia and New Zealand, and it's the only courier Bird connects to in New Zealand today.
Should customers see the courier's live price or your own delivery rate?
You can do either, and plenty of shops start with their own rate.
Your own rate works on every Shopify plan. Customers pay the delivery price you set in Bird, and the courier bills you for the trip. It keeps checkout predictable, and your delivery zones still decide who can book.
The courier's live price shows the real quote at checkout, so delivery costs don't eat your margin. It needs Shopify's carrier-calculated shipping setting, which comes with the Advanced and Plus plans. On the Grow plan you can add it for a monthly fee or by switching to annual billing. With a live price you can also make orders above a set value deliver free, and add a handling fee on top of the quote.
Every courier on this list except UniHop can show its live price. Our help article on Bird Rates vs CCS Rates explains the setting in plain steps.
How do couriers work with more than one store location?
Each location sends its deliveries to one courier, and a courier can only serve locations in the countries it covers. That sounds like a limit, but for larger retailers it's the useful part. With multi-location support you can run a different setup at every store:
- A London flagship hands deliveries to Gophr while a Paris store uses Stuart.
- A Toronto store books Trexity next day, and a Vancouver store sends the same day with Uber Direct.
- A suburban store keeps its own van and connects no courier at all.
Each location also keeps its own delivery days, time slots and order limits, so a busy store can cap its afternoon deliveries without touching the others.
What stays the same whichever courier you choose?
Your daily routine is the same whichever courier you connect, and most connect in a few fields under Bird's Settings, then Integrations.
- Nothing is sent until you're ready. An order goes to the courier when you mark it Dispatched in Bird, not when it's placed. So the driver comes for an order that's already packed.
- Tracking lands on the order. Bird saves the courier's tracking link, and if you switch it on, marks the order fulfilled in Shopify and lets Shopify email the link to your customer.
- Cancelling is one step. Cancel the order in Shopify and Bird cancels the courier booking. Some couriers charge a fee once a driver is assigned.
- Booking problems are emailed to you. If a booking fails, usually because of a bad address or a missing phone number, Bird emails the addresses you choose with the reason.
One thing to know: edits made after dispatch don't reach the courier, so change those in the courier's own dashboard.
What if your courier isn't on the list?
DoorDash Drive, GoShare, Metrobi and Orkestro are marked as coming soon in Bird. If you need a different one, there's a Request a courier link at the bottom of the courier list in Bird.
If you'd rather keep your own drivers, Bird connects to route planners and fleet tools instead. Our guide to EasyRoutes route planning shows how Bird's delivery dates feed straight into routes, and the last-mile delivery page lists every courier and fleet tool in one place.

FAQs
Which couriers can I use for Shopify local delivery in the UK?
Through Bird, UK stores can use Uber Direct, Stuart or Gophr. Each store location sends its deliveries to one of them, so different stores can use different couriers.
Can I use DoorDash for Shopify local delivery?
DoorDash Drive is marked as coming soon in Bird. Until it's live, US and Canadian stores can use Uber Direct, Trexity, Jitsu, UniHop or Eva, depending on the country.
Do I need Shopify Plus to use a courier?
No. Bird connects couriers on any Shopify plan. Showing the courier's live price at checkout needs Shopify's carrier-calculated shipping setting, which is included on Advanced and Plus and available on Grow as an add-on or with annual billing. Without it, customers pay your own delivery rate.
Can I use two couriers at once?
Yes, at different locations. Each store location sends its deliveries to one courier, so a shop with two locations can connect a different courier to each.
What do I need before connecting a courier?
Bird's Essential plan or higher, multi-location turned on in Bird, your own account with the courier, and local delivery set up with delivery days and time slots. Every plan has a 14-day free trial, and current plans are on the pricing page.
